Artist CV Examples for Visual Artists
Real artist CV examples formatted for galleries, residencies and art school applications. Education, exhibitions, collections — in the right order.
Standard section order for a visual artist CV
The order below is what most galleries and institutions expect. Solo exhibitions first, education last — the opposite of an academic résumé:
- Name and contact — full name, city, email, website
- Solo exhibitions — reverse chronological
- Group exhibitions — reverse chronological, selective after 15–20 entries
- Residencies
- Education
- Awards and grants
- Collections — public and institutional only
- Press and publications
Each exhibition entry uses the same format: Year — Title (italicised), Venue, City, Country. Consistency across every entry is more important than any individual formatting choice. If you want the template first, use the artist CV template or the free Artist CV Generator.
