About MyArtPDF

Gallery-ready PDF tools for artists, built by an artist.

MyArtPDF is built by Alexandre Desane, a visual artist and indie developer based in Paris. It exists to solve a simple but very real problem: making professional portfolios, CVs, and statements shouldn't require learning design software or paying a monthly subscription.

Why this tool exists

As an artist, I struggled every time I needed to send a portfolio: residencies, galleries, open calls, schools. I kept rebuilding PDFs, fighting with layout, and jumping between tools that were never really designed for artists.

MyArtPDF was born from a simple idea: every artist should be able to generate a clean, gallery-ready PDF portfolio, CV, biography and statement — without stress, without subscriptions, and without giving away their data.

If you want to understand the principles behind these choices, read the MyArtPDF manifesto.

Local-first by design

MyArtPDF runs as an offline desktop app. Your data stays on your device: artwork images, text, structure, everything. There is no cloud account and no hidden sync. The app does not include analytics or tracking.

You can export your project as a .myartpdf file, keep multiple versions on your computer, and import them back whenever you need to update or reuse a portfolio. A file-based workflow — not a locked-in platform.

If you want to see how that file-based workflow turns into an actual submission-ready document, the portfolio PDF example and portfolio template are the shortest route.

Focus on the content, not the layout

MyArtPDF takes care of the structure: cover page, CV, biography, artist statement, and artworks with proper metadata. The layout follows gallery and institution standards, so you can focus on writing, selecting images, and ordering your works.

The free tier lets you create one full portfolio with up to 15 artworks, an artist CV, biography, and statement, and export it as a professional PDF — all without an account.

The Pro upgrade is a one-time purchase at €34 — no subscription, no recurring fees. It unlocks unlimited portfolios, unlimited CVs, biographies, and statements, exhibition catalogues, price catalogues, and print-quality PDF export.

Built for real-world art contexts

The goal is simple: make it easier to apply to residencies, respond to gallery requests, or send a portfolio to a curator, without spending hours on layout decisions.

The structure MyArtPDF generates is aligned with what institutions expect: clear sections, single-column typography, and clean metadata under each artwork.

For a detailed breakdown of the structure, formats, and standards expected by institutions, see the artist portfolio PDF guide.
